An Eye for an Eye
Exodus Exodus 20:22-22:17
"Eye for eye" is the most misread sentence in the Torah — not a license for revenge but a judicial ceiling that caps retaliation at the injury. And from that ceiling the case laws of the Book of the Covenant run forward to Christ: the wound-word lands on the Servant, the willing bondservant takes the form of a slave, and the thirty-shekel slave-price becomes the betrayal price of the Son.
