Genesis Genesis 39:1-23
Genesis 37 leaves God unnamed; Genesis 38 names Him only in judgment; Genesis 39 floods with the divine name eight times across five verses. The chapter's spine is one refrain stated twice — 'the LORD was with Joseph' — at the head of the slave's house and the head of the king's prison. The same presence holds in both, and the same word that named Judah's turning aside names the LORD's turning toward the faithful sufferer.
