Genesis Genesis 35:1-29
Jacob returns to Bethel and keeps the vow he made fleeing the land: a pillar and oil at the vow-site again, the place named once more. God consecrates the name Israel a second time and restates the covenant as El Shaddai, while three deaths turn the generations forward.
Genesis Genesis 32:1-32
At the night-ford of the Jabbok, the grasper meets the One he cannot supplant. A wordplay triangle, a saturating face-motif, and the new name Israel — he strives with God and prevails, blessed and limping at the dawn.
