The Line of Esau
Genesis Genesis 36:1–37:1
Genesis 36 closes the line of the non-elect brother: Esau is Edom, settled with chiefs and kings and a possession in hand — before Israel has a single king, and while Jacob still only sojourns. The genealogy's placement is its argument: election runs through the sojourner, not the settled.
