I Form Light and Create Darkness
Isaiah Isaiah 45:5-7
In one verse YHWH claims both poles of existence — light and darkness, well-being and calamity. The grammar reserves the Genesis-1 creation verb for the troubling poles, the oldest Hebrew and Greek manuscripts diverge on a single word, and the canon's own interpreters insist this is sovereignty over weal and woe, not the authorship of evil.
