Pharaoh's Dreams
Genesis Genesis 41:1-57
Pharaoh's magicians fail; a forgotten prisoner is rushed from the pit and, before he names God, names his own absence: 'apart from me.' Genesis 41 closes the dream triptych — the doubled dream is fixed and hastening, a pagan king becomes the first in the canon to confess the Spirit of God in a man, and the famine that drives all the earth to Joseph plants the seed of the Exodus.
